Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade assesses work of St. Petersburg metallurgical enterprises (Photo)

A delegation from Russia’s Ministry of Industry and Trade, led by Ivan Markov, Director of the Metallurgy and Materials Department, visited the production facilities of the Petrostal Metallurgical Plant and the Laboratory of Special Steels and Alloys in St. Petersburg.

Participants reviewed:
- Current capabilities of the enterprises;
- Results of technical modernization efforts;
- Key areas of innovative development.

Over the past year, over 193 million RUB was allocated for modernization at *Petrostal* and 15 million RUB at the *Research and Production Association (NPO)*. With support from the Ministry of Industry and Trade, both enterprises are conducting R&D to develop high-tech products.

The *Petrostal Metallurgical Plant* is creating a new grade of steel for manufacturing equipment used by oilfield service companies. The project budget totals 235 million RUB, including 150 million RUB from the federal budget.

The *Laboratory of Special Steels and Alloys NPO* is developing a steel grade for medical implants, with a total budget of 168 million RUB, including 110 million RUB in federal funding.

Both projects are in their second phase of implementation, with completion planned for 2026.
