UAZ plans to expand alumina output

Urals Aluminum Plant (UAZ, a subsidiary of Rusal) will modernize its alumina capacities, that allows to grow production to 900,000 tons of alumina per year, UAZ's CEO Victor Kozhevnikov said at a meeting with Mikhail Astakhov, major of Kamensk-Ural town, Sverdlovsk area.

According to Victor Kozhevnikov, its plans to restart primary aluminum output if market conditions change. He said that his predecessor had conservation pot lines competently, so restart aluminium production doesnt take a long time.

In early March, Rusal announced that UAZ's CEO Eugene Zhukov will manage the Achinsk Alumina Refinery, and Victor Kozhevnikov, respectively, UAZ.

According to the information on the Rusal web-site, UAZ have capacity of 775,000 tons of alumina per year.
