New Gyro Crusher Launched at Norilsk Nickel Talnakh Concentrator Plant

Installation of a newly-assembled gyro crusher No 13 has been completed at the Milling and Flotation Workshop of the Talnakh Concentrator Plant (TCP). The replaced mill has had a service life of 13 years.

According to Igor Zorin, Deputy Production and Technology Head of the Concentrator Plant a replacement of that type is a unique and intricate process. «The disassembled crusher was delivered from Ukraine by water. The specialists then assembled parts of the crusher, welded them and installed internals – did all that was required. The newly-assembler unit was then delivered to the replacement location. This has been the first in situ assembly of such a large crusher in order not to slow down the production».

There’s a total of 2 gyro crushers used to mill crushed ore at TCP with a total capacity of 200 tons of crushed ore per hour per unit. The units are regularly scheduled once every 6 months.

The modernization of gyro crusher No 13 was conducted by Norilsknickelremont subsidiary under program of replacing worn out facilities.

Minimizations in equipment suspension helped maintain the production targets of the plant. TCP currently operates at a capacity of 7.8 million ton of ore per annum.
