The engineering subdivision of JSC “Severstal-Metiz” (is included in division “Severstal Russian Steel”) implements a new order for manufacture, delivery and installation of cable-stayed systems for bridge building.

In August the company directed to the client ropes for a new arch footbridge in the city Naberezhnye Chelny. A cable-stayed system composed of 14 preliminary drawn locked ropes with adjustable and non-adjustable Y-shaped sockets is developed especially for this project. Engineers of JSC “Severstal-Metiz” will take part in the installation of this system; the installation is scheduled for September 2012.

It should be emphasized that JSC “Severstal-Metiz” is a unique producer of wire and wire products in Russia offering the engineering service to its clients. It includes several stages and cooperation with customers takes place at these stages. It is assistance to architects and engineers in development of suspension and tension constructions, organization of project work and detailed development of construction elements, manufacture of cable-stayed elements, installation and tensioning of cable-stayed system with the help of special equipment. Quality control at all stages is an important element of the full process.

“This is a new line both for us and for Russia: among ropes’ home producers nobody but we are engaged with it. Due to new unique equipment installed at the production site in Volgograd and also due to cooperation with our colleagues from “Redaelli” today we are able to implement the most difficult projects in sphere of engineering. I would like to mention that the unique character of engineering service of JSC “Severstal-Metiz” means that we carry out a regular inspection, maintenance and repair of suspension and tension constructions as well”, — commented Oleg Veter, CEO of JSC “Severstal-Metiz”.

At the present time two more projects for cable-slayed systems are in progress: building of a suspension footbridge across the Chagan River in Kazakhstan and cable-stayed footbridge across Tallinn highway in Saint-Petersburg.
