OMZ Special Steels upgrades steelmaking equipment

OMZ Special Steels, part of OMZ Group, commissioned the upgraded horizontal and vertical stands of ladle heating at its steelmaking shop.

Modern horizontal and vertical stands of ladle heating can reheat ladle lining up to 1,200°C before smelting and to maintain its temperature not at lower than 900 ?C during ladle maintenance period and between smeltings. The introduction of new stands allows the company to eliminate shortages of equipment, designed for preparation of casting ladles and ladle treatment of steel, reducing the average duration of secondary treatment for 10 minutes, which in turn increases the service life of steel ladle linings.

Installation of new stands is performed under the program of OMZ Specialsteel’s production facilities modernization, jointly conducted with Gazprombank. The total investment in the project constitutes 25.5 million roubles.
