OMZ-Special Steels upgrades ladle metallurgy and liquid steel degassing facility

OMZ-Special Steels, part of OMZ Group, launcjed modernization of its ladle metallurgy and liwuid steel degassing facility UVRV-1, produced by swedish ASEA-SKF. The upgrade costs 314 million roubles.

The equipment, necessary for modernization, is delivered by STG Group Spa (Italy). The equipment, which weighs 100 tons, costs 4 million euros.

The UVRV-1 is designed for secondary refinery of liquid steel, which is made for decreasing contaminants and final alloyage.

Modernization will allow receiving higher quality steel (with a lower content of hydrogen and nitrogen), and significantly reduce time of steel processing, which will lead to increased productivity and reduced unit energy consumption.

The works on UVRV-1 modernization will be completed in March 2013.
