Izhorskiye Zavody launches check assemble of reactor with internals for Bolgarian Belene NPP

Izhorskiye Zavody, part of OMZ Group, launched check assemble of the reactor vessel VVER-1000 for the first energy unit at Belene NPP (Bulgaria).

This manufacturing operation at the factory was conducted on a special test stand in order to dock the most important pieces of NPP equipment and determining compliance with technical requirements.

The check assembly of the reactor vessel internals and the cover of the upper unit is one of the final stages in the manufacturing process of the reactor vessel prior to delivery to the customer.

Construction of NPP in Belene is the largest project of Russian-Bulgarian cooperation in the field of nuclear energy. It provides for the construction of two reactors with Russian pressurized water reactors for 1000 MW each. For the first two reactors of the Bulgarian nuclear power plant Izhorskiye Zavody will produce 2 reactor vessels internals, 2 top blocks, 2 pressurizers, 8 blocks of steam generators with collectors of the coolant (steam generators, four corps had already been shipped to OJSC ZIO- Podolsk), 2 sets of units for the main circulation pipeline, as well as eight accumulator tanks of the core emergency cooling system and 16 tanks of passive protection of the reactor core.

OMZ Group is one of the leading heavy industry companies specializing in engineering, production, sales and service support of equipment for nuclear, oil and gas, mining industries, as well as special steel production and industrial services.
