Russian Copper Company to start a new mining dressing complex in two years

Russian Copper Company has begun mountain-capital works as part of implementation of the GOK “Mikheevsky” project. The investment budget of the project reaches $650 million; at this moment about $133 million has been executed. Mikheevsky deposit situated in the Chelyabinsk region is one of the largest copper deposits in Russia. Ores of the Mikheevsky deposit bear copper, gold and silver. Operational ores stocks reach 400 million tones.

An open mine with annual production capacity reaching 18 million tons of damp ore and a dressing plant of the corresponding capacity will be constructed on the mining and dressing complex facilities. Infrastructure facilities including transmission facilities, gas pipeline, auxiliary production, an administrative-household complex, as well as hostels and hotels are planned to be constructed as part of the project.

To increase efficiency of the project, Russian Copper Company is planning to implement the most up-to-date technologies of ores extraction and concentration and to use innovative decisions. The total amount of the concluded contracts on delivery of the most state-of-the art equipment of the concentrating factory reaches about $220 million. 

The Mining and dressing complex “Mikheevsky” is the federal project. It is the largest mining and dressing complex to be constructed from the initial stage on the post-Soviet territory. The Mining and dressing complex “Mikheevsky” with annual production capacity of copper in concentrate reaching 71k tones is planned to put into operation in the end of 2013.
