Izhorskiye Zavody and OMZ-Spetsstal successfully registered by China State Atomic Authority

Izhorskiye Zavody and OMZ-Spetsstal, a part of OMZ Group, have successfully completed registration with the China State Atomic Authority.

The 5-year license grants Izhorskiye Zavody and OMZ-Spetsstal the right to manufacture the primary circuit reactor shell equipment and auxiliary equipment for the third and fourth units of the second stage of Tianwan nuclear power plant. According to the terms of the license, Izhorskiye Zavody and OMZ-Spetsstal are fully responsible for the quality of supplied equipment and oversee its operation while the license is active.

Registration with the China State Atomic Authority is a new requirement put forth by the People’s Republic of China towards the nuclear power plant equipment manufacturers. In order to pass the registration procedure, the manufacturer must have no less than five years’ experience in the nuclear market and provide a list of reference projects. The China State Atomic Authority license proves that the products of Izhorskiye Zavody and OMZ-Spetsstal conform to the international standards.

Izhorskiye Zavody have manufactured primary circuit reactor shell equipment for two first stage units at Tianwan nuclear power plant, including the reactor core shell and core melt isolator. Launched in 2007, Tianwan nuclear power plant is built according to a modernized Russian project and is considered to be the safest among the world’s active nuclear power plants.
