Freight One Hauled Over 94,000 metric tons of Aluminum in January-February 2011

Freight One hauled 94,100 metric tons of aluminum in the first two months of 2011 from the Krasnoyarsk and Sayanogorsk aluminum smelters to the ports of the Northwestern, Far Eastern and Azov-Black Sea regions, an increase of 0.9% over the same period of last year.

The company attributes the positive trend to the use of routing technology in hauling the aluminum from the plants. The technology allows the company to send a single train of 64—65 Freight One cars to the consignee and fulfill the order 50% faster compared with haulage in separate cars. Freight One sends up to 8 organized trains with aluminum to consignees per month.

We remind you that Freight One hauled 735,000 metric tons of aluminum from these companies in 2010. The company also increased intraregional haulage of nepheline ore, which is processed into alumina, a necessary ingredient in the production of aluminum.

In January-February 2011 the company increased haulage of nepheline ore by 14.8% year-on-year from the Kia-Shaltyrsky mine in Kemerovo province to the Achinsk Alumina Plant in Krasnoyarsk Territory. The company hauled about 408,000 metric tons of nepheline ore on the route during the period.
