OMZ-Foundry Production completes reconstruction of gas treatment facilities

OMZ-Foundry Production, part of OMZ Group, has completed a major environmental project - technical re-equipment of gas treatment facilities in order to reduce the negative impact of industrial activities on the environment.

The construction of gas treatment facilities was provided by the company DANTHERM (Germany), which won the tender by offering OMZ-Foundry Production not only the use of advanced technology and advanced filtering materials, but also the best constructive solutions that improve equipment reliability and ease of maintenance in comparison with other bidders.

The project was completed with the maximum use of existing building structures and facilities.

Fume Treatment Centers (FTC) of dry type are designed to fully capture flue gases from three furnaces (DSP-12NZ, DSP-12 and DSP-25) and cleaning them from the industrial dust. Air pollution from electric steel furnaces comes into the raw air camera, from which it is sucked by smoke exhausters through the filters, while industrial dust yield on the filter and clean air goes into the atmosphere. Filters are periodically cleaned, after that the dust is shaken and yields in the bag, from which it is removed by road. The facility is operated both from FTCs and DSP-25.

The project also involves the direct control of FTC working parameters by the company-developer through appropriate software, which enables the most efficient service support of the center.

Laboratory studies conducted during the pilot operation, showed high quality of gas-treatment facilities: the concentration of harmful substances in the treated gas during the work of 3 furnaces at the same time constituted 1.3 mgs on one cubic meter, cleaning efficiency was at the level of 99.2%.

The new FTC will successfully cope with the capture and purification of flue gases even with the increased production of steel castings up to 60 tons per year.
