OMK gets after two streams

United Metallurgical Company (OMK) plans to take part in pipe’s delivery for construction gas pipeline “South Stream”, said CEO of OMK Vladimir Markin during the signing of contract with Nord Stream.
“OMK may be proud that it entered the league of world leader suppliers of pipes for biggest projects. We are satisfied how OMK fulfills obligations. Selecting suppliers of pipes for the second line we approached complex, given the history of supplies, quality, price and other options”, - said Henning Kothe, project director of Nord Stream at the ceremony of contract’s signing.
As a results of completed tender Vyksa will deliver 25% of pipes for first line of sea gas pipeline which has 1200 km of total length. The total sum of contract amounts to Euro 1 bl. The second supplier of pipes is german company Europipe. For the project will be delivered 1.1 million tonnes of steel pipes. Pipe’s delivery is scheduled to start in May 2010.
OMC, Europipe and Sumitomo (Japan) will deliver pipes for the second line of Nord Stream (1 million tonnes) under contract worth 1 bl euro. The russian company’s share in contract amounts to 25%. The rest is divided between Europipe (65%) and Sumitomo (10%).
According to Markin, the company prepares the documentation for the competition to supply pipes for the "South Stream", which should take place in early 2011.
Route of pipeline “South Stream” on the pre-investment stage of the project is considered in several options and includes the parts of the gas pipeline on the territory of Russia and in some European countries, as well as offshore gas pipeline across the Black and the Adriatic Sea (in the case of choice options of gas supply in the southern part of Italy).
