Production structure of the non-ferrous industry expects changes

Taking into account the affect of global economic and financial recession on production, rate of development, and the state of things in the Russian and world steel industry the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation has adopted the Strategy of Development of the Steel Industry up to 2020. According to it, despite the present problems faced by the non-ferrous industry its production structure expects some changes due to growth in production in the high conversion sectors (non-ferrous metals processing, special steels, electrodes, hard alloys, semi-conductors etc.). These sectors will account for 17-18% by the end of 2011 in the total output in the non-ferrous industry, 22-25% by the end of 2015, and 28-30% by the end of 2020. The output of metals and alloys from secondary materials will also increase.
Copper produced with application of oxyacetylene processes will account for 80-85% in 2011, while nickel will account for 65-70%; in 2015 85-90% and 72-75% respectively, in 2020 95% and 80-82% respectively.
Aluminium produced in modernized electrolyzer with preliminary burnt anodes and with applications of dry and semi-dry anodes technologies will account for 75-80% in 2011, 81-85% in 2015, and 87-90% in 2020. Facilities for alloys production will also extend.
Generally speaking, use of ecologically pure hudrometallurgical processes is increase in the non-ferrous industry.
Based on The Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation.
