OMZ to complete hydrotests of second grade hydrotreater for Lukoil-Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez

Izhorskiye Zavody, part of OMZ Group, has successfully completed hydraulic tests of the second grade vacuum gas oil hydrotreater for the modernized Kstovo Refinery (LUKoil-Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez LLC).

In the process of the hydraulic tests the reactor, representing a vessel 30 meters in length, with an outer diameter of more than six meters and weighing approximately 800t, was filled with water under pressure of 167 atmospheres (16.7 MPa). For the operations it requires 480 cubic meters of specially prepared water. The purpose of hydraulic tests is to check the strength of welded joints and mechanical integrity of the product.

OMZ won a tender to supply two hydrotreaters of the first and second grade for LUKoil-Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez OJSC in 2007. The contract value was approximately RUB800 million.

The hydrotreater of the first grade was shipped to the customer in early September this year. In the coming days it will be delivered to Kstovo for subsequent installation at the recently built refinery complex. The hydrotreater of the second grade will be shipped before the end of October this year.

The vacuum gas oil hydrotreaters are designed for deep oil refining and production of high quality diesel fuel (standard Euro-5).
