OMZ's IZ-CARTEX completes manufacturing of new EKG-12K Shovel

OMZ (Uralmash-Izhora Group), a leading heavy machinery company with assets located in Russia and the Czech Republic, announced today that its IZ-KARTEX company has completed production of the first EKG-12K mining shovel. In September 2009 the shovel will be shipped to the customer, Olenegorsk Mining and Processing Plant, a part of Severstal.

The EKG-12K shovel is one of the basic models in the new range of shovels focused on optimal correspondence with mining vehicle specifications. The shovel can be used for ore loading into truck and rail vehicles with 75-100 tons carrying capacity and even into dumptrucks with 120-136 tons carrying capacity.

The high technical standard of the new shovel is provided by use of the latest design and engineering methods, modern materials and technological solutions.

The EKG-12K shovel and its modifications are noted for their high productive capacity, simplicity of operation and reliability. The basic bucket's capacity has been raised to 12 cubic meters in comparison with the EKG-10 model. Inter-changeable buckets with 18-20 cubic meters capacity may also be used. The new shovel's cutting height was also increased as well as the ladle hanger force. The roller mount of supporting and turning arrangement is equipped with polymeric plugs which do not need lubricants.

The shovel is also equipped with cables with extended service life, with the latest drive gear, controlling, information and diagnostic system, as well as with an automated centralized lubricating mechanism. The machine's efficiency is to be increased through a reduction in repair and maintenance time as reliability of basic elements and equipment have been raised. This allows the expected useful life of the shovel to be extended to as much as 20 years. The new shovel has been developed in order to satisfy growing demand of the mining companies in high quality efficient machines.
