Rusal’s Top-manager to Become Chairman of the International Aluminum Institute

For the first time in history the meeting of the board of directors of the International Aluminum Institute (IAI) was held in Russia.
As a result of the voting Artem Volynets, Director for Strategy and Corporate Development UC Rusal was elected the IAI’s Chairman.
IAI is a global forum for producers of primary aluminum with 25 member companies, each member company is represented in the IAI borad of directors by Director for Strategic Development. Currently, the IAI members account for over 80% of world aluminum production.
However, as noted by Ron Knapp, IAIs General Secretary, this public organization is not engaged in aluminium global market research. «We are not involved finding solutions to market issues, it’s important for us to ensure the adequacy of the perception of aluminum by the world community - he said.
To support Ron Knapp, Artiom Volynets stated, «It is important for us to promote aluminium as an ecological material, which can be used 100 times better as compared to other materials such, as say, steel or plastic».
