OMK Casting and Rolling Complex Reports Its Operating Results for the First Three Months Since Its Commissioning

During the first three months since its launch in October 2008, the Casting and Rolling Complex (CRC, Vyksa District, Nizhni Novgorod Region), part of United Metallurgical Company (OMK), has produced 40,814 tn of coiled steel.

To date, 20,416 tn have been shipped to the main consumers of CRC's products, OMK's Vyksa Steel Works and Almetyevsk Pipe Plant. In the long-term perspective, CRC is supposed to fully cover the above companies' needs for rolled coils to manufacture small- and medium-diameter pipes (21-530 mm). The initial capacity of CRC will be 1.5 mln tn of coils per year.

The Casting and Rolling Complex was put into operation on October 3, 2008. At present, the Company is mastering its facilities and product mix. Products range from low-carbon to heavy-duty and corrosion-resistant steels designed for pipes used in severe climatic conditions.

According to CRC Executive Director Konstantin Pityul, the mastering process has gained a satisfactory momentum. "We have already begun making non-traditional grades of steel to meet the existing market demand," said Mr. Pityul.

The CRC Plan for 2009 provides for the production of 1 million tonnes of rolled coils, which scope is based on customers' requests. This year's main goal for CRC is to achieve high quality of the products to be manufactured upon those requests.
