NLMK revamps hot strip mill 2000

Novolipetsk Steel has revamped its hot strip mill.  The upgrade will increase capacity by 195,000 tpa, improve the quality of hot-rolled products and ensure the safe and smooth operation of the equipment.  

The revamp covered the cooling system for the metal and work rolls of the finishing train as well as the following control systems: main drives, screws, setup mechanisms and strip tensioning devices.   

The project, whose total value amounted to RUR 1.1 bln (appr. $40 mln), was implemented by the German suppliers SMS Demag and Transresch as part of Phase 2 of NLMK’s Technical Upgrade Program (2007-2011).
