Changes in Russian Aluminium Shapes Market

Analysis of development of Russian aluminium shapes market clearly shows an active growth of extrusion facilities. For example, in December 2006 Agrisovgaz (Maloyaroslavets, the Kaluga region) put into operation a new extrusion line with the force of 1.850 thou tons which will enable to produce up to 1.6-1.7 thou tons of shapes a month increasing total output to 19-20 thou tons a year. The same month Tatprof (Naberezhnye Chelny, Tatarstan) put into operation a press with the force of 1.880 thou tons and the capacity of 800 tons a month. In January 2007 Tatprof plans to begin setting up of an extrusion complex with the force of 1.460 thou tons.

Besides, new players gradually appear in the market. According to the information we have, in 2007 three new companies began to produce shapes; two are located in the center of Russia, the other – in the North-West region.

A number of market players forecast a slight fall in demand for aluminium shapes which may cause crisis in production. Nevertheless, not all are that pessimistic. Many believe that consumption will rather increase largely due to booming construction in the regions.
