Magnitogorsk Works to Go in Turkey

Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works has rejected the idea of buying metals assets in Asia after being unable to acquire the Turkish Erdemir in 2005 and Pakistan Steel in 2006. Yesterday, it became known that Magnitogorsk and Turkish Atakas planning to build a rolling mill in Turkey for about $1.1 billion.

The plant will be built in the Iskendrun and construction may begin in September for a September 2009 launch of the plant's first line and a 2011 launch for the second line.
The plant's capacity will be 2-2.6 tons per year.
