СhelPipe Group shipped 865,000 tonnes of pipes in H1 2016
Over the first six months of 2016, ChelPipe Group’s pipe division production sites - the Chelyabinsk Pipe plant and Pervouralsk Pipe plant, shipped 865,000 tonnes of steel pipes to the customers, which is less by 19% than the amount of the same period in 2015 (-206,000 tonnes). The reduction results from the decreasing demand for large-bore pipes, one of the Company’s key products. The same trend applies to all major Russian producers.

In January-June 2016, the white metallurgists shipped 356,000 tonnes of welded pipes, including 323,000 tonnes of large-bore (LB) pipes. This is 34% and 37% less respectively versus 1st half 2015. The decrease came as a result of postponed Gazprom projects (the Power of Siberia and North European Gas Pipeline) and Transneft’s reduced consumption of LB pipes for repairs and operational needs of the existing oil pipelines.

Within the reporting period, the Company shipped 509,000 tonnes of seamless pipes, which is 4% less versus the same period in 2015, and that conforms to the market trends. Furthermore, the shipment of OCTG pipes increased by 6% to 180,000 tonnes, which was encouraged by increased volumes of oil production and exploratory drilling in the Russian Federation.
