Bystrinsky mining and processing plant is to receive electricity
Construction of 220kV electrical grid started in Transbaukal Krai to supply Bystrinsky mining and processing plant. Project is implemented on the basis of co-financing with Norilsk Nickel.

Foundation works is now under way for 220 kV dual circuit electric transmission line "Kharanorskaya GRES power plant – Bugdainskaya – Bystrinskaya" with total length of 234 km. Construction is carried out from two sides. Line route goes across highlands with changes in elevation up to 690 m. Intensive seismic activity (up to 7 point) and frost-heaving phenomenon were taken into account in the design of the electric transmission line. In total, 848 steel lattice pylons will be installed in the course of construction.

As a part of the project for external power supply of Bystrinsky mining and processing plant, construction of 220 kV substation Bystrinskaya with transformer capacity of 250MVA started in Gazimuro-Zavodsky area. In order to ensure the required level of 220 kV bus voltage, lower losses and reactive power compensation in the 110 kV grid it is planned to install controlled shunt reactor and static capacitor bank with 50 MVAr of total reactive power at the site.

The substation will receive 220 kV power and transmit it to the 110 kV network. 220 kV outdoor switchgear of Kharanorskaya GRES power plant will be also expanded to connect the electric transmission lines under construction.

Energy project is implemented as a part of bigger project for mineral resources development in Transbaikal Krai. Under terms of the agreement with FGC UES (Federal Grid Company of Unified Energy System) Norilsk Nickel provides the major portion of funding for the energy infrastructure construction through SPV. In the future, energy facilities will be purchased by the Federal Grid Company from SPV under the terms of installment payment.

Bystrinskoye deposit is one of the world's largest in terms of copper, gold, silver and iron reserves. Plant is scheduled for start-up in 2017 with achieving its full capacity in 2018. Bystrinsky mining and processing plant will produce and process 10 million tpy of ore.
