Vyksa Steel Works increased pipes output by 20% to 1.8 million tons
Vyksa Steel Works, a subsidiary of United Metallurgical Company (OMK), produced 1.8 million tons of assorted pipes in 2014. This is up 20% against 2013. The production of large diameter pipes grew by a third, and exceeded 1 million tons. The production of wide rolled plates rose by 30% to 700,000 tons. The production of railway wheels fell by a third to 450,000 items.

«The increased production of pipes and wide rolled plates is attributed to the growth of deliveries to OMK’s strategic partners, the largest domestic oil and gas companies, namely: Gazprom, Transneft, Rosneft, Lukoil, Surgutneftegaz, Gazpromneft, and others. In particular in 2014, we supplied pipes for such pipeline projects as: Southern Corridor, Bovanenkovo-Ukhta, Power of Siberia, the Filanovsky oil field, the first branch of the underwater part of the South Stream gas pipeline, and other projects. Another positive factor contributing to the annual results was the operation of the modernized pipe mill 203-530 which enabled us to expand the production of oil and gas pipes, including the inch range, and to launch the production of large shaped sections, which are new to Vyksa Steel Works. The fall in the output of railway wheels is explained by the overall decline in demand and the negative impact that the dumping of wheel supplies from Ukraine has had on Russian companies,» Sergey Filippov, Vyksa Steel Works,’s Managing Director, said.
